If your agency uses the same shift patterns over and over, shift templates save you from entering the same information every time. A template stores a full shift definition -- including where it happens, how often it recurs, who fills each slot, and how long it lasts -- so you can build weeks of schedule with a few clicks.

What a template includes

  • Name -- the title of the shift, like "Day Shift" or "Medic 2 Nights."
  • Division and Location -- where the shift runs.
  • Resource -- the truck, unit, or other resource assigned to the shift (optional).
  • Rotation and Rotation Start Date -- link the template to an existing rotation or start a new one. The rotation start date must be a Sunday.
  • Rotation Pattern -- a calendar picker where you tick the days of the week the shift runs, across however many weeks the rotation covers.
  • Start Time and End Time -- when the shift runs. A Custom times per day toggle lets you set different times for each selected day.
  • End Time Offset -- Same Day, Next Day, Two Days Later, Three Days Later, or Four Days Later.
  • Shift Slots -- one row per seat on the shift. Each slot has a required Qualification and an optional User.

Creating a template

  1. Open Admin Scheduling and click Templates in the sub-navigation.
  2. Open the new-template form.
  3. Fill in the fields above.
  4. Save the template.

The template generates its recurring shifts on the calendar based on the rotation pattern and start date.

Managing templates

You can edit or delete templates at any time from the Templates page. Changing a template updates future generated shifts going forward.

Example

Your station runs a day shift from 0700 to 1900 every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You create a template called "A-Shift Days," pick your division and location, set the rotation to a one-week pattern ticking Mon, Wed, Fri, enter 0700-1900 with Same Day offset, and add one Paramedic slot assigned to the regular crew member. The shifts populate automatically for every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday going forward.
