Availability lets your scheduler know which days and times you can work. When you set your availability, it shows up in the admin scheduling tools so your supervisor can assign shifts more efficiently.
Setting availability for a date
- Open My Schedule from the menu.
- Click the day on the calendar you want to set your availability for.
- On the day modal, switch to the Availability tab.
- Tick one of the presets -- Day Shift, Night Shift, or All Day -- or leave all three unchecked and enter custom Start Time and End Time values.
- Click Save Availability.
Presets versus custom times
The presets are based on your agency's configured day and night shift start times. All Day marks you as available for the whole 24 hours. If none of those fit, leave the presets unchecked and pick your own Start and End Time -- an overnight warning shows up if your end time is on the next day.
Clearing availability
To clear the day entirely, uncheck every preset and leave both time fields blank, then click Save Availability. The record is removed.
How your scheduler uses this
When your supervisor is creating shifts, they can check who is available for a given date and time. If you have marked yourself as unavailable, you will not appear in the list of available employees. This reduces scheduling conflicts and saves everyone time.
Example
You are a part-time EMT and you can only work weekends this month. You open My Schedule, click each Saturday and Sunday, switch to the Availability tab, tick All Day, and click Save Availability. On weekdays, you leave your availability blank. When your scheduler pulls up the availability checker to fill weekend shifts, your name appears. On weekdays, it does not.
Tip
Keep your availability up to date, especially if your personal schedule changes week to week. Your supervisor relies on it when building the schedule, and outdated availability leads to conflicts.
