When your agency has unfilled shifts, you can volunteer for them by submitting a bid. This lets supervisors know you are interested and available.

Finding open shifts

On the My Schedule calendar, open shifts show as red all-day blocks on the days they cover. Click one of those days to open the day modal, then switch to the Shift Bids tab. You see a table of open shifts for that date with columns for Shift, Role, Start, End, Hours, and My Bid.

Submitting a bid

  1. Find a shift you want to pick up.
  2. Click Bid on Shift in the action column.
  3. Your bid is submitted and the My Bid column updates to pending.

Bid statuses

  • Pending -- your bid has been submitted and is waiting for a supervisor to review it.
  • Approved -- your bid was accepted. The shift is now on your schedule.
  • Denied -- your bid was not accepted. The shift may have been given to someone else or canceled.

Withdrawing a bid

If you change your mind before a supervisor reviews your bid, click Withdraw Bid next to the pending bid and confirm. Once a bid has been approved, you cannot withdraw it.

Example

Your station needs an EMT for a 12-hour day shift on Saturday. You see a red block on Saturday, click it, open the Shift Bids tab, click Bid on Shift, and the My Bid column shows pending. Later that day, your supervisor approves the bid. The shift now appears on your My Schedule calendar for Saturday.

Tips

Bid early. If multiple people bid on the same shift, the supervisor picks one. Getting your bid in first shows you are interested, though the final decision is up to your supervisor.
