Open shifts are unfilled shifts your agency has offered up for bids. Bidding says "I will take it" — an administrator then awards the shift to one bidder.
Placing a bid
- From the navigation, click My Schedule. Open shifts show in red on your calendar.
- Click the day, then the Shift Bids tab. Each open shift shows its role, time, and hours.
- Click Bid on shift.
If the row shows a warning instead of a bid button, the shift conflicts with something on your schedule — it overlaps a shift you already have, or approved time off. The warning text says which.
What the statuses mean
- Pending — your bid is in. You can click Withdraw to take it back any time before it is decided.
- Approved — you won the shift. It moves onto your calendar and you are notified.
- Denied — the shift went to someone else, or the request was declined.
- Expired — the shift started before a decision was made.
Tip: hours matter in awards. Admins see each bidder's hours for the week when they decide, so a bid that would push you into overtime can lose to one that will not.
