When cloning saves time

If you have a transport that is almost identical to one you already have on the board — same patient, same route, different time — cloning can be faster than starting from scratch.

How to clone

  1. In the incidents table, find the incident you want to copy.
  2. Open the ... actions menu on the row.
  3. Click Clone.
  4. CAD copies the incident right away and opens it in the edit modal so you can adjust anything that is different.
  5. Change whatever is different — usually the scheduled pickup time.
  6. Click Save Changes.

What gets copied

  • Patient
  • Scene address
  • Destination address
  • Service type, dispatch reason, response mode, level of care
  • Trip notes
  • Billing and provider information

What does not get copied

  • Incident number — the new incident gets its own.
  • Status — starts fresh.
  • Active unit assignment — the new incident is unassigned from any on-duty unit.
  • Scheduled pickup time — resets so you set the new time for this trip.
Tip: If a patient is transported repeatedly on the same schedule, do not clone — set up a recurring schedule instead. See Setting up a recurring transport.
