When cloning saves time
If you have a transport that is almost identical to one you already have on the board — same patient, same route, different time — cloning can be faster than starting from scratch.
How to clone
- In the incidents table, find the incident you want to copy.
- Open the ... actions menu on the row.
- Click Clone.
- CAD copies the incident right away and opens it in the edit modal so you can adjust anything that is different.
- Change whatever is different — usually the scheduled pickup time.
- Click Save Changes.
What gets copied
- Patient
- Scene address
- Destination address
- Service type, dispatch reason, response mode, level of care
- Trip notes
- Billing and provider information
What does not get copied
- Incident number — the new incident gets its own.
- Status — starts fresh.
- Active unit assignment — the new incident is unassigned from any on-duty unit.
- Scheduled pickup time — resets so you set the new time for this trip.
Tip: If a patient is transported repeatedly on the same schedule, do not clone — set up a recurring schedule instead. See Setting up a recurring transport.
