Before an inspection can be reported, both the inspector and a representative of the property sign on the tablet or laptop. The signatures appear on the PDF that goes to the owner.
Step by step
- Open the inspection.
- Scroll to the Signatures section.
- Click Inspector Signature. A signing pad opens. Sign with a finger or a stylus, then click Save.
- Hand the tablet to the property representative. Click Representative Signature.
- Type the representative's name in the Representative Name field.
- Have them sign on the pad, then click Save.
What gets stored
- The inspector's signature image and the user account that signed it.
- The representative's signature image and the typed name.
- A timestamp when both signatures are complete.
What to know
- You can clear either signature and re-sign without clearing the whole inspection. Useful when the wrong person signs by mistake.
- The signatures appear at the bottom of the inspection PDF that is generated when you send the report. See Sending the inspection report.
- If the property representative refuses to sign, capture the name and write a note in the inspection. Many agencies handle this with an agency-specific procedure -- check with your bureau's policy.
