Every inspection has a status. The status tells you where the inspection is in its lifecycle and shows up as a colored badge on the inspections list.
The statuses
- Scheduled -- The inspection is on the calendar but the inspector has not started walking yet.
- In Progress -- The inspector has started recording findings. Pinned to the top of the list so open work is easy to find.
- Passed -- The inspection is complete and the property passed. Either no findings, or all findings were resolved before closing.
- Failed -- The inspection is complete and the property did not pass. Open findings remain to be addressed -- usually through a follow-up.
- Canceled -- The inspection was canceled (no-show, wrong building, owner declined, etc.).
Filtering by status
The inspections list has a status filter at the top. Pick a status to see only inspections in that state. Combine it with the type filter to narrow further -- for example, all In Progress annual inspections, or all Failed business-license inspections.
Tips
- Use the In Progress filter at the end of each shift to make sure no inspection got left half-finished.
- The Failed filter is a useful starting point for the next round of follow-up inspections. Pair it with the open-findings count on each row to prioritize.
