Every pre-plan has a status. The status tells you whether the pre-plan is still being written, waiting for sign-off, or in service.

The statuses

  • Draft -- Still being written. Edits can be made freely. Not yet ready for the public list.
  • In Review -- Submitted for approval. A training officer, district chief, or whoever your agency designates is reviewing it.
  • Approved -- Signed off and current. This is the version crews are looking at.
  • Archived -- Superseded by a newer pre-plan or no longer relevant. Kept on file for the record.

The workflow

  1. The author creates the pre-plan. Status is Draft.
  2. When the pre-plan is ready, the author clicks Submit for Review. Status changes to In Review.
  3. The reviewer reads the pre-plan, asks for changes if needed, and clicks Approve when satisfied. Status changes to Approved.
  4. When a pre-plan is approved, Fire snapshots the entire document -- every section, every canvas, every annotation -- and bumps the version number. See Versions and history.
  5. When a pre-plan is replaced or no longer needed, the author or reviewer clicks Archive.

What to know

  • Pre-plans in Draft or In Review are still editable. Approved pre-plans should be revised by creating a new version, not by editing the approved snapshot directly.
  • The pre-plan list shows the status as a colored badge so the current state is obvious at a glance.
