A canvas is an image inside a pre-plan that you can draw on. Pre-plans support several canvas sources. Pick the one that fits.

Canvas sources

  • Photo upload -- A photo you took yourself. Building exterior, hazard close-ups, utility shutoffs in context.
  • Aerial map -- A Google Static Maps snapshot of the property captured straight into Fire. Good for marking access points, staging, water supply, exposures.
  • Inspection capture -- A photo your inspector already took during a property inspection. Pulls in from the inspection findings without re-uploading.

Adding a photo upload

  1. Open the pre-plan in edit mode.
  2. Click Add Canvas.
  3. Pick Photo.
  4. Choose the file and upload it.
  5. Give the canvas a name (like Building Exterior, North Side).
  6. Click Save.

Capturing an aerial map

  1. Click Add Canvas.
  2. Pick Aerial Map.
  3. The map opens centered on the property's coordinates. Pan and zoom to frame what you want.
  4. Click Capture. Fire takes a snapshot at the current frame.
  5. Give the canvas a name (like Aerial: Approach and Staging).
  6. Click Save.

Importing an inspection photo

  1. Click Add Canvas.
  2. Pick From Inspection.
  3. Pick a photo from a recent inspection of this property.
  4. Give the canvas a name.
  5. Click Save.

What to know

  • You can add as many canvases as you need. Each one shows in the pre-plan editor as its own panel.
  • Once a canvas is saved, you can draw on it. See Drawing on a canvas.
  • Aerial maps need an internet connection at capture time. The captured snapshot is then stored with the pre-plan.
