Once you have a canvas in a pre-plan, you can draw on it. The annotations help crews understand what they are looking at -- access points, utility shutoffs, hazards, staging zones.
Opening the drawing tools
- Open the pre-plan in edit mode.
- Click the canvas you want to draw on.
- The drawing toolbar appears at the top of the canvas.
The tools
- Select -- Pick existing annotations to move, edit, or delete them.
- Freehand -- Draw a freehand line. Useful for outlining odd shapes or sketching a path.
- Rectangle -- Draw a rectangle. Useful for marking off zones, rooms, or utility cabinets.
- Arrow -- Draw an arrow from one point to another. Useful for pointing at entry points or showing a path of travel.
- Polygon -- Draw a multi-sided shape by clicking each corner. Useful for staging zones and complex footprints.
- Text -- Drop a text label anywhere on the canvas. Useful for naming rooms, marking room numbers, calling out hazards.
Styling annotations
The toolbar has a color picker and a stroke width slider. Pick the color and width before drawing, or select an existing annotation and change them after.
Saving
Annotations save as you draw. There is no separate save button -- when you finish a stroke, the annotation is saved.
Tips
- Use one color for hazards (red), one for access (green), one for utilities (blue). Consistent colors across all your pre-plans make them faster to read.
- Less is more. A canvas with five clear annotations beats one with twenty competing ones.
- If an annotation is in the wrong place, switch to the Select tool, click it, and drag it. To remove it entirely, select it and press delete.
