The punch clock preferences control how your crew members punch in and out. Open Settings from your profile menu (bottom-left), expand the Preferences section, then open Punch Clock.

Punch Clock section

  • Allow user to punch in when no shift is scheduled and require a comment -- when checked, employees can punch in even if no shift is on the schedule; a comment is required. When unchecked, the app blocks punches without a scheduled shift.
  • Disable Punch Clock -- turns off the punch clock entirely for your company. Only check this if you track hours another way.
  • Require comment when early punch-out -- when checked, employees punching out before their shift ends must enter a comment.
  • Restrict Punch Clock to specific IP addresses -- when checked, punches are only accepted from the IPs you list in the Allowed IP Addresses section below.
  • # minutes early punch-in w/out comment -- how many minutes before the shift start an employee can punch in without being prompted for a comment.
  • # minutes late punch-out w/out comment -- how many minutes after the shift end they can punch out without a comment.
  • # minutes late punch-in w/out comment -- how many minutes after the shift start they can punch in without a comment.

Allowed IP Addresses section

Expand this section to manage the IP whitelist. Use the repeater to add one IP per row. This only matters when Restrict Punch Clock to specific IP addresses is checked.

Example

Your company runs three stations. You want to allow punches only from those stations and require a comment if someone punches in more than ten minutes late. You check Restrict Punch Clock to specific IP addresses, add the three station IPs, and set # minutes late punch-in w/out comment to 10. Employees can now only punch from the stations, and anyone more than ten minutes late must explain why.
