Pay periods divide time for payroll purposes. Getting these right matters because they affect timecards, overtime calculations, and the hours shown on each employee's dashboard.
Getting there
Open Settings from your profile menu, expand Preferences, then expand Pay Periods.
What to set
- Pay-Period Frequency -- pick Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Semi-Monthly, or Monthly.
- Pay-Period Start Date -- the date your first pay period begins. The system calculates all future periods from this date. Pick the start date of your current or earliest pay period.
Generating pay periods
Click the green Generate Pay Periods button and confirm. The system seeds pay periods from your start date through roughly two years ahead, marking any that have already ended as closed and locked.
Example
Your company pays every two weeks and the current pay period started on April 6. Set the frequency to Bi-Weekly, the start date to April 6, save, then click Generate Pay Periods. The system creates periods April 6-19, April 20-May 3, May 4-17, and so on for two years.
Important
Set pay-period settings when you first configure Crew Scheduling. Changing the frequency or start date after timecards exist can cause confusion with historical records.
