Your agency can set up IP restrictions so that punching in and out only works from certain locations, like your station or headquarters. This ensures that punches happen on-site.

How it works

Every device connected to the internet has an IP address. Your agency can create a whitelist of approved IP addresses -- for example, the IP address of the station's internet connection. When you try to punch in or out, the system checks whether your device's IP address is on the whitelist.

What happens if you are not on the whitelist

If you try to punch from a location that is not on the whitelist, the system blocks the punch and shows a message explaining that your location is not authorized. You will need to punch from an approved location instead.

Bypass permissions

Some users may have permission to bypass IP restrictions. If your agency has given you this permission, you can punch in and out from any location. This is useful for employees who work at multiple sites or respond from home.

Common questions

I am at the station but my punch is being blocked

This usually happens when you are connected to a different network than expected. For example, if you are using your phone's cellular data instead of the station's Wi-Fi, you will have a different IP address. Switch to the station's Wi-Fi and try again.

I work from multiple locations

Ask your administrator to add the IP addresses for all of your regular work locations to the whitelist. If your locations change often, they may give you bypass permission instead.
