The filter bar at the top of the map lets you narrow down which hydrants appear. This is useful when you have hundreds of markers and you only need to see a subset of them.

The hydrant map filter bar with address search, hydrant ID filter, status, and type dropdowns.

Status filter

The status dropdown lets you show only Active, Inactive, or Out of Service hydrants. Select a status and the map updates instantly. Choose All Statuses to go back to seeing everything.

Example

You want to plan your flushing schedule for the quarter. Set the status filter to Active so you only see hydrants that are in service and need to be flushed.

Type filter

The type dropdown lets you filter by Dry Barrel or Wet Barrel. This is helpful in areas where both types exist and you want to focus on one.

Example

You are preparing for winter and need to drain all dry-barrel hydrants. Set the type filter to Dry Barrel to see only those on the map, then work through them area by area.

Search fields

There are two search inputs in the filter bar:

  • Search address or location -- Type a street address and the map pans to that location. This uses Google's address search, so you can type partial addresses like "123 Main" and pick from the suggestions.
  • Filter by hydrant ID -- Type part of a hydrant number to filter the markers on the map. Only hydrants whose number or address matches your text will show. This is the fastest way to find a specific hydrant when you know its number.

Combining filters

All filters work together. For example, you can set the status to Out of Service, the type to Wet Barrel, and search for a hydrant number. The map will only show hydrants that match all three conditions. The count next to the filters tells you how many hydrants match.

Tip

Start broad and narrow down. If you set a filter and see zero results, remove one filter at a time until you find what you are looking for.
