The hydrant map is the fastest way to see what is in service, what is out, and where the gaps are. It shows every hydrant your agency has recorded, dropped at its real coordinates.
Opening the map
- From the menu, click Hydrants.
- Click the Map tab if you are not already on it.
What the colors mean
Every pin is color coded by status:
- Green -- Active. The hydrant is in service.
- Yellow -- Inactive. The hydrant exists but is not currently in service for normal use.
- Red -- Out of service. Do not rely on this hydrant for water supply.
Searching and filtering
The map has a search box and two filters above it:
- Search -- Type any part of the hydrant number or address to narrow the pins shown on the map.
- Status -- Show only active, only inactive, or only out-of-service hydrants.
- Type -- Show only dry-barrel or only wet-barrel hydrants.
Clicking a pin
Click a pin and a panel slides out with the hydrant number, address, status, type, and a Street View thumbnail. From there you can click through to the full hydrant record or jump straight to editing it.
What to know
- When you zoom out, hydrants in the same area cluster into a numbered circle. Click the circle to zoom in.
- If a hydrant is missing from the map, it is missing its latitude and longitude. Open the hydrant and add coordinates.
- The map needs an internet connection. Google Maps tiles will not load without one.
