The History tab on a property is a running timeline. It has two kinds of entries: ones you write by hand to capture events like inspections, complaints, or fires, and automatic entries that record every change made to the property record itself.

What you see

The timeline shows entries newest first. Each one has a date, a short description, and the name of the person who created it. Manual entries can be edited and deleted. Automatic entries are read-only.

Adding a manual entry

  1. Open the property.
  2. Click the History tab.
  3. Click Add Entry.
  4. Fill in the activity code, the description, the date and time it happened, the personnel involved, and an optional file attachment.
  5. Click Save.

Examples

Documenting a complaint call. A neighbor calls about smoke. You roll, find nothing, but you want it on the record. Add a manual entry: code is complaint, description is neighbor reported smoke; investigated, no fire, possible cooking, occurred at the time of the call.

Logging an after-action note. After a working fire at the address, add a manual entry summarizing the run. Attach the incident number, the cause if known, and any building damage notes.

Tips

  • The automatic entries are useful when you want to see who changed a field and when. They are especially helpful during disputes ("Who set this property as critical infrastructure?").
  • Manual entries with attachments make the history tab a record of the after-action artifacts (photos, reports, owner correspondence) that would otherwise scatter across email and shared drives.
