If your agency has just a handful of new hydrants to add, the fastest way is to enter them one at a time. For a full inventory, use the CSV import instead.
Step by step
- From the menu, click Hydrants.
- Click the Add Hydrant button.
- Fill in the form. The required fields are Hydrant Number, Latitude, and Longitude. Everything else is optional but worth filling in if you have it.
- Click Save.
What to enter
- Hydrant Number -- The identifier your agency uses for this hydrant. It must be unique within your hydrant list.
- Address, City, State, ZIP, Cross Street -- The closest street address and the nearest cross street.
- Latitude and Longitude -- The coordinates where the hydrant actually sits. These place the hydrant on the map.
- Status -- Active, Inactive, or Out of Service.
- Type -- Dry-barrel or wet-barrel.
- Ownership -- Public or private.
- Make, Model, Year Installed -- The manufacturer details, useful when ordering parts.
- Main Size, Barrel Size, Connections -- The plumbing details that affect water flow.
- Notes -- Anything else worth knowing about this hydrant.
Tip: If you do not know the latitude and longitude, look up the address on a map service that shows coordinates and paste them in. Without coordinates the hydrant will not show up on the map.
