CloudPCR saves every change you make as soon as you make it. There is no save button. The save indicator at the top of the PCR shows you what is happening so you can be sure your work is safe.

The states you will see

  • Unsaved (amber pencil icon) — you just changed something and the save has not started yet. This usually only flashes for a second.
  • Saving… (gray spinner) — CloudPCR is sending the change to the server right now.
  • Saved (green checkmark) — the change is on the server. The checkmark fades away after a couple of seconds.
  • Queued (amber clock) — the change is waiting in line. This appears when you make several changes very quickly.
  • Offline (red broken-link icon) — your tablet has lost its internet connection. See the offline article for what happens next.
  • Syncing… (blue spinner) — your tablet just reconnected and CloudPCR is sending queued changes back to the server.

What this means in practice

For everyday use, you do not have to think about it. Type your data, watch for the green checkmark, and move on. The whole point of the indicator is to give you a quick way to check that your work is safe without making you click anything.

An example

You finish vitals on a patient and then your partner calls you to help carry the cot. You tap out of the vitals modal, glance up at the indicator, see Saved, and walk away from the tablet. Two minutes later you come back, your tablet has gone to sleep, and the screen is locked. You unlock it, the PCR is exactly where you left it, and the indicator still says nothing has changed since you last looked. Your work is safe.

What to watch for

Tip: If the indicator stays on Unsaved for more than a few seconds without changing to Saving… or Saved, check your internet connection. The indicator will switch to Offline if CloudPCR cannot reach the server.
