When you have finished filling out a checksheet, you submit it. This locks the session and marks it as complete.
How to submit
- Fill in every required item. The Submit Checklist button at the top right of the session stays disabled until all required items have an answer.
- Click Submit Checklist.
- The session status changes to Submitted and you can no longer edit it.
What the statuses mean
Every session has a status that tells you where it is in its life cycle.
- Draft — the session exists but no work has been done on it yet.
- Assigned — an administrator assigned the template to you; the session is waiting for you to start it.
- In Progress — you have started filling it out. This is the status you see while you are working on it.
- Submitted — you have finished and submitted it. The session is locked.
- Cancelled — the session is closed and cannot be resumed.
- Failed — something went wrong during submission. This is rare. If you see this status, try submitting again. If it still fails, contact your administrator.
What happens after you submit
The session moves from the in-progress area to the completed area. Your name, the submission time, and the reference code are all recorded. Anyone with reporting access can now view the completed session, including all your answers, any files you uploaded, and any signatures you captured.
An example
You finish the daily truck check on Rescue 1. Every required item has an answer. You click Submit Checklist. The session status changes to Submitted and it disappears from your in-progress list. Your captain opens Reporting later that morning and sees the completed session with your name on it. She clicks View Checksheet to review your answers and notices you marked the portable suction as Fail. She puts in a work order to get it fixed.
Tip: Get in the habit of submitting each checksheet as soon as you finish. Do not leave sessions in progress overnight. It makes reporting cleaner and helps your officers see results right away.
