Why timezone matters
Drug Tracking records timestamps on every checkout, transaction, and report. If your timezone is not set correctly, all of those times will be off. A checkout you completed at 0700 local time might show as 1200 if the timezone is wrong.
How to set your timezone
- Open your profile menu at the bottom of the navigation and choose Settings.
- Click the Preferences tab at the top of the page.
- Open the Timezone dropdown and pick your agency's timezone. For example, America/New_York (UTC-05:00) for Eastern Time or America/Chicago (UTC-06:00) for Central Time.
- Click Save.
What it affects
The timezone setting applies to your entire agency. It controls how dates and times display on:
- Checkout timestamps (started, completed)
- Transaction records in the controlled substance log and movement audit
- Expiry dates on reports
- Dashboard activity
Who can change it
Only admins can change the timezone setting. If you notice that times are displaying incorrectly, ask your agency admin to check this setting.
Tip
Set this once when your agency first starts using Drug Tracking. You should not need to change it unless your agency moves to a different timezone. If your state observes daylight saving time, the system handles the switch automatically — you do not need to update it twice a year.
