Once you have started a session, you work through it section by section, filling in each item as you go. Checksheets saves your work automatically so you never have to worry about losing your progress.

Working through sections

A checksheet is organized into sections. Each section groups related items together. For example, a truck check might have sections for "Cab," "Patient Compartment," "Outside," and "Equipment." Work through them in order, or jump to any section if you need to come back to one later.

Filling in items

Each item in a section has a field you need to fill in. The field type depends on what the template asks for. You might see a pass/fail toggle, a text box, a number counter, or other types. See the field types article for the full list.

How auto-save works

Checksheets saves each answer the moment you move to the next field. There is no save button. When you tap or click into one field and then move to the next, the previous answer is saved to the server. This means you can close your browser, lose your internet connection, or get called away, and your work will be there when you come back.

An example

You are doing an SCBA inspection. The first section asks you to check the facepiece seal. You select Pass. You move to the next item, "Regulator connection," and select Pass. As soon as you moved to the regulator field, the facepiece answer was saved. You get toned out for a call. You close your phone, run the call, and come back an hour later. You open Checksheets, find the session in your in-progress list, and pick up right where you left off. Both answers are still there.

Required items

Some items may be marked as required by your administrator. You will see an indicator next to those items. You do not have to fill in required items in any particular order, but you will not be able to submit the session until all required items have an answer.

Tip: If you are doing a truck check and you find a problem, fill in the item as Fail right away. Then make a note about it in any text field the checklist provides, or tell your officer. Do not skip it and plan to come back later, because you might forget.
